Would you trust this face?

There's nothing worse than commercials trying to be funny but completely missing. Sometimes they can end up being unintentionally funny, but other times it makes you feel uncomfortable. Such is the case of this ad. Strato is a webhosting company that originates in Germany and is mostly popular in Europe. Stay with me Americans, you'll get a laugh out of this. Because for some reason Strato expects us to trust this face:

Sorry not sorry for making the picture so big. So yeah, this is the internet, according to Strato. I know not everyone on the internet is handsome, but to choose this face to represent your brand? I added the full ad below, but because it's in Dutch I'll explain a little more.

Even though the original commercial is in German, I chose to include the Dutch version, because it's extra bad. Not everyone will notice, but it's dubbed. This makes the message come across even weirder because the mouth doesn't exactly match.

The commercial follows a simple rule. The normal people have a conversation about webhosting, then Mr. Internet comes over and says how much better Strato is. It's a shame every shot cuts off after that, so you don't see the normal people clubbing him with bowling pins in the first shot. You don't see the guy throwing his can at his head in the second shot. (While we're at the second shot: Has a banana ever looked so wrong? I can't really explain why, it just feels weird) In the final scene, you don't see the police escorting him away from the kids in the park.

All in all, just an incredibly weird commercial of which I don't like to admit it's effective, but I can't deny it is because I'm writing this post about it now.
