This is why we'll dive into a Japanese commercial every Friday. This week, it's a commercial about pudding. Not the most exciting topic, so I can see why they would want to spice it up with a funny commercial. Mind you though: the Japanese interpret 'funny' a whole lot different than we do. Let's start analyzing.
Because I don't want to give it away just yet, let's start with a couple of screencaps taken directly from the video. The first one is normal, as far as this commercial goes. Just a couple kids at a birthday party enjoying a pudding that's way too big for them. I get a feeling the kid with the red hat is the birthday girl, because she looks the most excited. Either that or she just peed herself.
But Japanese pudding isn't just for kids! In Japan, everyone can enjoy nice and tasty pudding. Even important-looking business people. Look at 'em diving into that pudding with those huge spoons.
Completely stuffed by this pudding that's obviously way too big for them, they immediately get back to business. The incredibly important business of pointing at a whiteboard.
I'll stop teasing you, I'm sure you're curious what the actual commercial looks like. I bet you're all sitting there like this little girl below.
Okay, I promise that was the last screencap. I'm slowly going insane myself. Feel free to enjoy this amazing commercial in all its glory. Next week we'll take a look at the strangest use of a dog in a commercial ever.
Good luck getting the song out of your head.
